Handmade Wooden Taper - Spill - for Lighting Candles, Pipes, or Cigars - Spanish Cedar Wood

These Spanush cedar wood spills, also called tapers, are a throwback to lighting candles, pipes, and cigars in the days before matches. (Spanish cedar is the traditionally preferred wood for lighting cigars.) Spills were used to transfer a flame from a source (the hearth, or another candle) to something being lit. The spills burn for about a minute, giving ample time to light multiple candles around the house, or to get your cigar or pipe going.

Unlike lighters, which can leave tobacco products with residual flavors, wooden spills provide a natural and gentle flavor that complements perfectly; additionally, the flame is somewhat cooler than lighters, resulting in a less acrid experience.

This listing is for one bundle of 15 spills, approximately 8 to 10 inches in length, wrapped with a wood shaving (similar to those pictured).
