Hand-turned wooden Nostepinne (yarn ball-winder), made from cherry, and finished with a light coat of beeswax. These are medieval tools for creating center-pull balls of yarn, typically in a flat "cake" form, but also as round balls.
The Nostepinnes are between 10.5 and 12 inches in length overall, and the "tip" of the tapered end is approximately 3/8" in diameter.
Due to the wood being a natural material, variations in grain pattern and color will occur. Occasionally, there will be defects in the wood (bark inclusions, small pockets, etc.); I strive to make sure that these will not affect the functioning of the Nostepinne. Because they are hand-turned, slight variations in dimension and form will occur.
The Nostepinnes have been sanded smooth, and finished with a light coat of beeswax rubbed into the wood.

Beautifully handcrafted nostepinne! I've recently gotten into fiber arts with weaving and fell down the rabbit hole! I was looking for something to help make my skeins more useful and came across nostepinnes! This one is beautiful, very smooth and works wonderful! Be mindful that I am new but the picture is my first time using it!
